Hair Analysis: Why and How

If you’ve been around my blog for awhile, you know that I have been trying for years to figure out what is causing this horrible adrenal fatigue and other symptoms that have been plaguing me for over a decade. Turns out, it’s toxic levels of copper! Crazy, right?? After all these years of trying everything to feel better, I’ve finally found the root cause and am now tailoring my diet and supplements (no synthetic vitamins, though!) to fixing it. I’m sharing my story with you today in the hopes of helping others find the sources of their chronic health problems.

Back in June (almost 4 months ago) I had a hair mineral analysis done. An acquaintance had mentioned it and I thought it might be a good idea. I knew that I had been exposed to flaking lead paint in one apartment and who knows what else. The results […]

Renew Your Health- September Challenge: SLEEP

Healthy sleep is so much more complex than it sounds. It sounds so easy (for some of you it probably is), but most of us don’t get enough sleep. Those of us who do often still aren’t getting good quality sleep. This month, I’d like to challenge you to join myself and my hubby in getting more shut-eye!

Before we jump into that, though, let me quickly recap our August Health Challenge, which was to detox. I ended up needing to increase my detox herbs more slowly than I thought, but it is important that I not take things too quickly. Since I’m breastfeeding, I don’t want to detox any faster than my body can break down the toxins. So, I’m still just taking one of each capsule a day. We’ve decided to extend the detox for at least another month, so I’ll be increasing the burdock root and milk […]

Ways to Detox Your Life

As you may know, we are starting a one-goal-a-month Renew Your Health Challenge. For the month of August, my hubby and I would like to invite you to join us in our current Renew Your Health Challenge: Detoxifying! I’ve shared our personal detox plans, but I know that we are all at different places in our health journeys, so I wanted to encourage and inspire each of you where you’re at. Whether you’ve never even considered the toxins you come in contact with or you have done several detoxes already, I hope that you can find something here to help you take the next step. 🙂

None of us want toxins in our bodies. They drain energy, damage health, promote disease such as cancer… I think we can all agree that they’re a bad thing, right? My hubby and I are focusing on getting rid of toxins that are already […]

Renew Your Health- August Challenge: DETOX

Before we start rebuilding our health, we first need to get rid of all of the nasty stuff in our bodies that prevents our systems from functioning well. Removing that junk is called “detoxifying”, or “detox” for short. This will be our (mine and my husband’s) first step in our long-term journey to better health, which is now called the Renew Your Health Challenge. We hope that many of you will join us in some, or all, of our steps! Your game-plan and tools may be different than ours, but we can still encourage and learn from each other. 🙂

How The Body Detoxifies

There are two main things in the body that need extra support for detoxification.

Lymphatic System: The lymphatic system is like the blood circulatory system, in that it is throughout your entire body. The lymphatic fluid (aka “lymph”) is “pumped” through your body by movement, similar […]

Renew Your Health Challenge

I am sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. Is anybody else out there on the same page? Have you had a health crisis or even just little problems that built up and left you feeling less than healthy? Here’s my story…

What Got Me To This Point

I used to feel healthy and strong. I’ve never been athletic and I’ve always loved to sleep in, but I could spend hours and hours actively doing things I loved. Then, one day my hubby and I came down with a virus. The doctor told the nurse to tell us that our over-the-phone description was a classic case of “mono”. He said (to tell the nurse to tell us) not to bother coming in. Just rest for a couple of weeks and we should be back to normal within six weeks. It’s been seven years. We still don’t feel “normal”. After […]
