Farmhouse Renovations: Week Three

This week we really made a dent in our to-do list, since my hubby took the week off from work. Talk about a working vacation!!

My hubby patched damaged drywall….

Looks like Nebraska, doesn’t it?! 😉

I worked on putting screens into screen doors.

The guys replumbed the shower… okay, they ended up replumbing the whole house, actually!

I put peel-and-stick tiles in the bathroom, living room/dining room and office, which we will be tearing out and replacing with solid wood floors and ceramic tiles. This is just temporary to satisfy the requirements of our loan. Looks pretty nice, though, huh?? 😉

And this room got a new ceiling (courtesy of my hubby and dad) and a new floor! Solid wood floors will be added as soon as we can. 🙂

My dad pulled out the rotted front porch steps and built new ones!

The broken siding shingles were replaced by the hubby!

And my mom looked after the girls who had a ton of fun playing outside!

Wasps’ nests are fun, right? 😉

    • LOL! Thanks, Stacy!! We’re so excited about moving in and getting some of the more exciting details done, like gutting the bathroom and redesigning it. It’s a little intimidating, but it’s such an adventure! 🙂

It is all looking good and certainly shaping up. What a difference those stick-on tiles make to that floor! And they are a nice brightener to the rooms, also. What a great feeling of ownership to know you are doing all this work to YOUR OWN HOUSE! Happy for y’all.

  2. You are doing a great job on this house. Taking before & after shots really helps you to see the progress you’re making – plus it’s really fun for us too! 😉 Thanks for sharing, it’s looking great!

    • Thanks so much! I’m glad to hear you’ve been enjoying watching our progress. It’s been a lot of hard work, but we’re learning so much and having a ton of fun. I’ll try to post another update once I’ve caught up on everything after three weeks with no internet. 😉

I really like watching your progress! We don’t own a farmhouse, but our “starter home” has come quite a ways–with quite a ways left to go! You’ve even made me rethink my views of stick-on tiles!! The linoleum in our kitchen has probably never even seen better days–of course I want real tile, but the stick-ons might be a better option until the finances are there! Hmm…I think I’ll price those out today…

    • These ones were so affordable, and they were what we already have in the kitchen, so the “go” with it. For now, they are a huge blessing. When our finances are ready for it, we’ll put in the hardwood floors, but it’s so great to have something new and clean to walk on until then. 😉 I think we got these ones at Lowes, but it might have been Menards. 🙂
