You don’t have to take out San Antonio car title loans to have an incredible holiday season. There are many things you can do in the city for little to no money. In fact, the more creative you get, the more fun you’ll likely have during the holidays.

To create wonderful holiday memories, a big budget isn’t necessary. Taking advantage of all the offerings area businesses and organizations present is one way to stretch your dollars and still feel the magic of the season. Best of all, the activities that remain the most popular can be done solo or with a group which means that your entire family will enjoy them.

Here are some ideas to get you started for this year’s holiday season:

Check out the Holiday Lights on the River Walk

An outstanding festive display consisting of 122,000 lights, this free attraction can be viewed from dusk to dawn the day after Thanksgiving up until January 7th. The River Walk is a sight to see any day of the year, but it becomes even more magical during the holidays when the bald cypress trees are full of colorful lights.

Attend the holiday lighting in Travis Park

Held on the 24th of November at 8:15 PM, this free event is fun for the whole family. It offers appearances by local food trucks, complimentary hot chocolate, ice skating, and lots of festive cheer.

Go to the museum for free

After eating a big Thanksgiving dinner, you can walk it off the following day by going to the San Antonio Museum of Art. It’s free to visit on the November 24th from 10 AM to 9 PM. American and international artists in many different mediums is highlighted at this unique museum. For a museum that generally charges admission, the opportunity is a gift in itself.

Watch dancers perform

The Arneson River Theater’s Holly Daze Dance Performances take place on November 25th, and are free for the public to enjoy from 1 PM to 3 PM. It’s a great way to support the local dance community and get yourself in the holiday spirit in the process.

Drive through a beautiful nativity scene

Concordia’s Annual Drive-Thru Nativity Scene is something that no one wants to miss. Nothing says Christmas more than the sight of Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, and the Wise Men. This free attraction takes place two days out of the year so it’s important to go while you have the opportunity. It’s scheduled for December 2nd and 3rd from 5 PM to 9 PM.

Make the holidays one for the record books. In San Antonio, it’s easy. There’s plenty to see, do, and experience in the city during the “Most Wonderful Time of Year”.

From outstanding outdoor displays to incredible indoor exhibits, there is something for everyone to enjoy in the city. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to create feelings of warmth and sentiment during the holidays. In fact, all you have to do is plan in advance by checking the city’s calendar of events.

Flight Delay Compensation Calculation Decided by Court of Justice

November 18, 2017 by Miriam Dunning Leave a Comment

The amount of compensation possible for a flight delay has been decided by the Court of Justice, in a unique case. The Court of Justice of the European Union ruled on compensation calculations for delayed or cancelled flights and their distance. Going forward, the Court’s ruling will be adhered to for all similar flight compensation cases.

Flight Delay Compensation Case

This ruling came about after a problem arose during a flight compensation case, brought about by passengers travelling from Rome to Hamburg via Brussels. The flight was operated by Brussels Airlines, with a stopover. The flight in question was three hours and 50 minutes late arriving in Hamburg, and so the passengers attempted to claim compensation.

The case, which was put before a local court, sought to claim compensation based on existing EU regulations. These EU regulations stated that airline passengers could claim compensation in the event of a delay; €250 for flights less than 1,500km in distance and €400 for those more than 1,500km. However, as the passengers’ journey from Rome to Hamburg technically involved a connecting flight, it was unclear as to whether these regulations applied and which distance should be used.

The case was then handed over to the Court of Justice to decide whether the total distance refers to the distance between the departure airport and arrival airport, or whether it factors in the entire distance covered with the connecting flight.

What Was Decided?

The Court of Justice ruled that the exact nature of the flight does not affect whether or not compensation can be claimed, as the passengers’ inconvenience remains the same. This means that both direct and connecting flights are covered by existing EU regulations; only the departure airport and arrival airport are considered. However, the distance – whether the distance is more than or less than 1,500km – is calculated based on a direct flight.

This means that passengers who face delays in the EU with connecting flights are entitled to compensation, but the exact amount will be calculated as if they were flying direct.

4 Best European Road Trips To Do as a Family

October 15, 2017 by Miriam Dunning Leave a Comment

If you are looking to take your kids on a  real adventure for next year’s vacation, why not consider the prospect of a european road trip. Throughout this continent you will find some fun and spectacular routes which can help you to explore somewhere new, and give your kids a great time as you explore. There are many routes which you can choose from and here are my 4 picks for the best in Europe.

Paris to Berlin

My kids loved the road trip which we went on last year which took us from the heart of Paris to the historic and exciting city of Berlin. we took 2 weeks out to make the trip and started off with a trip to EuroDisney to keep the kids happy. My children loved Paris, more than I expected and although we only had 2 days in the city, we managed to tick off all of the key attractions. The drive is great because there are plenty of places to stop from medieval Bacharach to the exiting Leipzig, before finishing the trip with 4 days in Berlin.

Bilbao to Bordeaux

For kids who love adventure, this is a great road trip choice. Start of in Bilbao with its beautiful beaches and water sports, before cutting through the rugged Pyrenees maintains to Pamplona, a historic town with a lot of charm. Beach lovers can then move on to Biarritz with its cool beaches and excellent surf, before finalizing the trip in the northern region of Bordeaux.

Bucharest to Vienna

If your kids are a little bit older, they will love this cultural discovery thorough Eastern Europe. Starting from Bucharest, you will head northward through the Carpathian Mountains to Transylvania. Kids will love the stop off at Bran Castle, the one-time home of Dracula himself. Next, head up to the old cities of Sibu and Brasov before heading to the famous archaeological site of Timisoara. Finally, fish the trip in Budapest, where kids will love the thermal springs and the medieval vibe of the city.

Athens Loop

My kids loved the Greek road trip which we took a few years ago and I would recommend it for kids of all ages. Begin your trip in Athens and head south along the coast roads which offer stunning views of the sea. Stop off in Sounion where you can watch the sunsetting at the Temple of Poseidon, head through the mysterious mountains to the north until you reach Mycenae which is home to many of Homer’s great characters. From here you will have many options but we decided to go straight for Olympia, where the ancient Greek athletes plied their trade. Finally, you will return to Athens to enjoy the rest of your vacation. This is the perfect road trip for those who love the sun and the sea, as well as those who enjoy Greek mythology. The road trip should take between 5 and 10 days, depending on how much time you have available.
