How to Prepare Your Child for a Visit to the Dentist

March 21, 2018 by Miriam Dunning Leave a Comment

Visiting the dentist can be a frightening experience for your child. However, knowing the right tips and tricks beforehand can help reassure your child and ensure they are well prepared. Here are a few ways on how to get your child ready for a visit to the dentist.

Let Them Know

Your child’s brain is like a sponge that absorbs everything you tell them. It is important to let your child know exactly what to expect before their dental appointment. Being honest with your child from the beginning and giving them instructions and guidance on how to best prepare for their appointment will help them enormously and ensure your child feels confident and ready.

Be Positive

A way to help your child be prepared for their visit to the dentist is by being upbeat and describing the dentist in a positive way. Letting your child know that they are the good guys and they are there to help protect our teeth can help in changing your child’s overall view. The way you speak about the dentist can have a significant impact, so ensure you remain positive and be on hand for any questions from your child. If your child is facing any problems with their teeth, websites like Health Row can give you more information and guidance on the appropriate steps to take.

Giving Support

Being on hand to give support to your child can help them feel relaxed and ready for their dental appointment. If your child has any worries or fears about going to the dentist, make sure that you empathize with them and offer any support that they may need. Be prepared to answer any questions your child has and try and relate back to when you were young, so you can understand why they are fearful about the dentist.

Practice Makes Perfect

Before your child’s dental appointment, make sure that your child is aware of the importance of good oral hygiene. Show your child how to brush your teeth correctly, so they can copy and learn from you. It is best to practice from a very young age, so your child is aware of how to practice good oral hygiene. Whilst your dentist will be able to offer advice and guidance, it is up to you to remind your child of the importance of brushing our teeth.

Make It Fun

There are ways to help your child prepare for their dental appointment and not make it seem as scary as it sounds. Many dental practices have games and activities in waiting rooms for children, which can give them something to look forward to and help take their mind off where they are. If your child has never visited the dentist before, it will be an unfamiliar environment for them so ensuring they can have toys and games to play with will help keep them relaxed.

If you would like more information on the best ways to prepare your child before their visit to the dentist, make sure that you look online at specialist websites that can give you more of an insight and learn tips and tricks to ensure the dental appointment goes as smoothly as possible.

Struggling to Afford Prescription Drugs?  These Tips Should Help

March 5, 2018 by Miriam Dunning Leave a Comment

Your health insurance plan may or may not cover the cost of prescription drugs.  If you are receiving a health insurance package from your employer, the coverage you receive is dependent upon what your employer is willing to spend, so you may not have prescription drug coverage.  Although you have more control over your coverage if you are purchasing a health insurance plan out of pocket, you still may not be able to afford a plan that offers to cover the cost of medications.

In either of these scenarios, you may be left having to purchase your own prescription medications, which your doctor feels are necessary to treat and/or cure your condition.  However, there is hope for those who do not have prescription drug coverage as part of their health insurance package.  Here are some tips on how to afford the medications you need, even if you have to pay for them out of your own pocket.

Purchase Generic Prescriptions

When you go to the pharmacy with your prescription, the pharmacist will ask you if you have any health insurance, and he will be able to determine if the plan you are on covers prescription drugs.  Be sure to mention that you are willing to forego the name brand prescriptions for a generic brand instead.

Even if you forget to mention that you want a generic version of the prescription, your pharmacist may go ahead and find it for you if he knows you do not have coverage.  He may first call your doctor to confirm that a generic is acceptable to dispense to you, and this will save you a lot of money when you go to pick up your medications.  Do not be afraid of using generic versions of drugs.  They are just as effective as name brand drugs, but they are much more affordable.

State Assistance Programs

Some states offer pharmaceutical assistance programs that can help cover the cost of your prescription drugs, easing the burden on you, especially if you are on long-term medications.

Consider Seeing a Low-Cost or Free Clinic

These clinics are great for those who are uninsured and for those who are hoping to get prescription medications at a discount or even at no cost.  Physicians at clinics are just as effective as a regular doctor, but they are perfect for those who cannot afford expensive medications and medical exams.

Order Your Medications Online or Through the Mail

If you have a chronic condition that requires daily medication, you may want to forego the pharmacy and instead purchase your medications directly from online and mail-order pharmacies, which can provide the same medications at deeply discounted rates.  You can even consider ordering your medication in bulk, storing the extra supplies so that you save money upfront and do not need to worry about reordering your medications sooner rather than later.  Because there are so many options out there, shop around for the best rates, and choose a company that has a good reputation.

Shop Around for Health Insurance

While shopping around for health insurance quotes on sites like medicalhealthinsurancetoday.org, make sure to decipher what exactly is going to be covered under each plan.  Most plans are more expensive because they offer more coverage, but you may be able to find an affordable plan that fits your needs and even provides coverage for medications.

Prescription drugs can be incredibly costly so keep the above tips in mind.

Ways To Stay Healthy When You’re A Mom On The Go

February 19, 2018 by Miriam Dunning Leave a Comment

It’s not always easy to stay healthy when you’re a busy mother. That’s why you need measures in place that allow you to take care of your wellbeing and attend to your daily responsibilities, without causing you to experience stress. It’s always better to know your limits than it is to exhaust yourself trying to do it all.

Realize that you’ll function better when you feel your best. There are ways to get your tasks done and not become overwhelmed by what’s on your plate. It’s all about preparing and planning, so your health doesn’t suffer as you go throughout your busy days.

Have A List of Resources Handy

You don’t have to do it all on your own. Use resources like echiropractor.org to gather information about how to attend to your aches and pains. Hopping online and doing a little research yourself to find solutions to your health concerns is easy and beneficial to you. It’s also a smart idea to secure a good doctor and dentist for you and your family. Focus on your health first, and the rest will fall into place.

Pack Nutritious Snacks

Being on the go means you’re won’t always have access to healthy foods. That’s why you have to carry nutritious snacks with you while you’re out and about. It’s not only necessary for you, but for your kids too. This way you won’t be tempted to eat poorly and grab unhealthy choices when you’re away from home. All it takes is a conscious effort to think in advance and pack your purse full of healthy options for when you suddenly become hungry.

Ask for Help when you need it

Being a busy mom requires you to ask for help once in a while. It doesn’t make you weak; it makes you smart. Reach out to your spouse or friends for support and guidance. See if they’ll cover for you while you attend to your health or join a carpool to take some of the burdens off your shoulders. All it takes is you speaking up and being proactive so that your health doesn’t suffer as you attend to your responsibilities.

Put A Routine in Place

While it’s a good idea to switch up your routine once in a while, routines are also helpful for keeping consistency in your life. For example, set a time you’re going to exercise each day and make it easy on yourself to get in a workout. Come up with a fitness plan and hold yourself accountable for following through. The same goes for when you’re going to grocery shop and make meals for the week. Find a routine that’s simple to maintain and allows you to keep you and your family happy and healthy.

Conclusion

It’s time to stop making excuses that you’re too busy to care about your wellbeing and start taking actions that deliver results. It’s important to find techniques that you find easy to upkeep. Stick with it, and you’ll soon feel much better, both mentally and physically.

Creating Balanced Self-Growth with the Alternate Therapy

January 31, 2018 by Miriam Dunning Leave a Comment

Changing your self-esteem through a carefully thought out progression of steps is important to improving your outlook on life. In order to be balanced in your self-growth, however, it may require a different type of therapy.

Hypnosis Can Help More Than You Think

The process of hypnosis has been found effective on bad habits, like smoking and overeating. In order to approach life in a more beneficial manner, it helps to have the backup of a process like hypnosis. Not everyone believes in the effectiveness of hypnosis, but in the end the process has helped many people to turn around their negative self-talk or self-destructive habits, making it possible to live life for the better.

Accepted Therapies Don’t Always Work

There are various ways to deal with weight loss efforts or attempts to quit smoking. However, chewing gum and joining a support group can only go so far. While hypnosis is off the grid of “normal” therapies, it still can be very effective for those who need a different approach to changing and improving their lives.

Self-Growth Starts With Reachable Goals

In order to try hypnosis on yourself, it helps to understand the process. It is key to create a goal that is manageable and measurable. A reasonable goal is also helpful in working toward a more balanced self-growth and journey of self-improvement.

From there, it is important to find a negative statement that you believe and turn it to be positive. Make it simple and easy to say in less than five seconds. From there, it is important to get comfortable on a soft surface, inhale while counting to seven, hold for a count of two and exhale on a count of 11. Visualize the breath going through the 10 parts of your body and relaxing the entire body.

Visualize Your Goal, Bring it To Life

After you are relaxed, it is important to bring that statement to life in your mind. Imagine it as alive and a true experience you are living through at that moment. See yourself achieving all things positive. Make sure to let go of any negative or limiting thoughts during this process. Finally, spend up to 30 seconds feeling grateful that you have accomplished your goal. Keep your emotions on track and feel strongly, and your goals will be achieved. This is similar to the process used by Native Americans to bring rain.

The Benefits of Hypnosis as a Therapy

Hypnosis is cheaper than comparative therapies and also easy to accomplish with limited equipment. This process can be done effectively and repeated as necessary to help you move forward as you may expand on preliminary goals.

This process can even be done with friends in a relaxed setting. Get together with a group and set a simple yet measurable goal. It is important to let the group know that this is more than NLP party tricks. In the end, you can all benefit from such an activity. You can see how you can live a positive life in today’s environment. You can provide that same ability to everyone in the group. Not bad when some consider it a party trick.

Botox Injections in San Jose and Other Ways to Look Younger, Faster

December 5, 2017 by Miriam Dunning Leave a Comment

Father Time is relentless and it can have a huge effect on the way in which we look, especially when our comes to our skin. As we age, our skin loses elasticity, wrinkles will appear and we begin to look older, often older than we actually are. Despite the advancement of science and technology and the desire by many to find the fountain of youth serum, we are still unable to reverse the effects of the raging process. With this being said, there are still many things which we can do to help ourselves look younger, and whilst they may not all be permanent, they can really help to give you the confidence and the young look that you may be after. Let’s have a look at some of the ways.

Botox

I went for some Botox injections in San Jose last year ahead of a wedding and I was incredible happy with the results. Botox is a serum which is injected into the skin, it fills out areas where there are wrinkles and it also encourages the skin to produce more collagen the chemical which our skin needs for repair and cell growth. The only downside with Botox is that you need to have it re-done once every six months or so, and I didn’t really want to make that kind of commitment. Instead, I like to use Botox every now and again, to give me a much-needed boost.

Stop Ageing

Naturally you cannot actually stop ageing but you can take some steps on your own to slow down how fast your face and your skin ages. If you smoke, drink excessively, fail to stay sufficiently hydrated or don’t eat a healthy diet, you will not be doing much to help the health of your skin. Make sure that you always place attention on what you are putting in to your body, that could negatively affect your skin and how you look.

Microdermabrasion

This is a treatment which I’d really recommend for anyone who is looking to give the health of their skin a much needed boost. Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical procedure which deeply exfoliates your skin using small crystals, and helps to remove the top layer of dead and damaged skin. The crystals or diamond-tip of the tool which is used for this treatment, will also buff and polish the skin to give a great finish. The result of this treatment is fresh, clean and young looking skin and not only does it look great, but the cleaner and fresher skin is actually far more healthy for you. Make sure that you have a chat with your dermatologist before you decide to go for a microdermabrasion treatment as it is not always for everyone. I would recommend getting this treatment done twice a year to ensure that your skin is always looking its very best.

How The Breast Cancer Surgeons Los Angeles Had To Offer Helped My Family

December 2, 2017 by Miriam Dunning Leave a Comment

Source

There is a lot that you learn about yourself and others when bad news arrives, something that happened to my family just 2 short years ago. My Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, news which shattered our family and left my Mum in a very difficult position. We were told that the cancer had been found early and that we shouldn’t worry too much, easier said than done. My Mum ended up having a lumpectomy and ever since has been in remission. We were fortunate that a friend of the family was one of the best breast cancer surgeons Los Angeles had to offer, and the way in which he supported our family was pivotal to us getting through it. I wanted to share the way in which he helped us so that you can help someone else out in the future should this terrible disease befall their family.

Open and Honest

One of the most important things to do with your family during this tough time is to be open and honest with how you are feeling. Many of us will go into our own shells or bury our heads in the sand when something bad happens but this can leave a lot of emotions unresolved, and they can manifest themselves in negative ways in the future. Make sure that, whenever possible, you are speaking in a frank way with your family about how you feel.

Positivity

There are thousands upon thousands of cancer survivors each and every year and whilst there are always negative and tragic stories which you could read about this disease, there are just as many positive stories. It is therefore, important that you focus only on the positives and that you try as best as you can to have a positive outlook on the diagnosis.

Comedy

One thing that really helped my family, and this was inspired by our surgeon friend, is our ability to look at the lighter side of things, this is of course not to say that we laughed at the situation, but there are some areas where you can find comedy. They say that laughter is the best medicine and this certainly helped us to deal with what was going on.

Understanding

Just because the disease is being looked after by professionals, that is not to say that the family and the patient themselves does not have a responsibility towards what is happening to them. You must take ownership of the cancer in order to help your loved one to be as healthy and strong as possible. A doctor may prescribe a course of treatment but they do not look after the diet which your family member eats, or their level of exercise, nor the administration of the tablets. As a family it is important that you have an understanding of how to approach this disease and informing yourselves is the best way to do it.

Dentist Clinton Clinic Helps Reduce Levels of Dental Phobia

December 2, 2017 by Miriam Dunning Leave a Comment

Around 15% of the population in this country is said to have a fear of the dentist, and this is stopping them from receiving proper dental care. This is something that the best dentist Clinton has to offer is attempting to address. They have introduced a number of new, state of the art dental procedures that are completely painless, and this is helping them to attract more patients to their books.

People are afraid of dentists for a variety of reasons. The instruments look frightening, people feel out of control why they let someone place instruments in their mouth, and patients are afraid of perceived pain. This fear is so real that they will avoid any kind of dental appointment, including a routine cleaning. However, Clinton dentists have come together to introduce completely painless procedures, thereby ensuring patients no longer feel any discomfort. They are confident that, if they can just convince patients to attend a clinic once, they will be able to break through the fear and ensure they meet all their regular checkup appointments.

Dentist Clinton Clinics Offer Painless Procedures

There are a number of different ways in which dental offices in Clinton can guarantee that their procedures are painless. The first is that they work with state of the art tools and equipment that no longer hurts people. For those who have a significant fear, and for procedures that are more painful in nature, they offer sedation dentistry, ranging from laughing gas to full anesthesia. They encourage people to visit them in their clinic to discuss the options that are available.

Indeed, building a relationship with a dentist is an important element of overcoming dental fear. People can have consultations without having any treatment, which means that they can get to know their dentist and the office, without needing to brace themselves for any treatment. In so doing, they can also discuss their particular concerns and worries.

When someone consults with their Clinton dentist about painless procedures, they will discuss what treatment has been received in the past. If the patient is comfortable with that, they may also complete a routine exam, during which no treatment is offered. It literally only means that the dentist will take a look at someone’s teeth to assess their general dental health. Based on this, they can then recommend whether there are any treatments recommended to ensure oral health can be either improved or maintained.

Most of all, however, dentists are going out of their way to show compassion and empathy during their care. They know that their job is a feared one and that they have a bad reputation. However, they are trying to change this misconception, showing people that having regular dental visits is nothing to be afraid of and that it can also help to avoid more painful procedures in the long run. So far, Clinton is setting a real example of best practice with this, having noted a significant increase in uptake.

Advice on Having Younger Looking Skin

November 29, 2017 by Miriam Dunning Leave a Comment

One of the biggest challenges for women all over the world is how to find the perfect way to create great looking, and great feeling skin. Over the years we have been told about the many benefits of a range of products, serums and magic potions which are supposedly there to instantly rejuvenate and fix our skin woes, in truth, these rarely live up to the billing. I have tried for many years to create fresher, healthier and younger looking skin, and so far things are going pretty well. I wanted to share with you then some very simple, yet very effective things that you should be doing to ensure that your skin looks great, and stays looking that way.

Products

There are many products on the market to choose from, and my experience has been pretty disappointing so far, especially with the highest priced products. In actual fact the products which I have found to help me the most are those from beauty and skincare giants Jeunesse, not only are they well priced but they are made using almost 100% natural ingredients and they make your skin feel great. I would recommend Jeuenesse’s products to everyone but I must stress that they key is to find a product which works best for your skin, and stick with it.

Food and Drink

The food and drink that we put into our bodies has a direct effect on how our skin looks and you must be very conscious about what you are consuming each day. Starting with drinks, the very best way to ensure that you have incredible looking and healthy skin, is to make sure that you are keeping your body hydrated. What this means in practical terms is that you should avoid drinks such as coffee or too much alcohol, and you should also ensure that you are consuming at least 3 litres of water per day.

Regarding foods, what you should be looking for here is a healthy diet, plenty of fruits and vegetables which are packed with minerals, nutrients and vitamins, all of which help your skin to protect itself, repair itself and most importantly, look great. Avoid fatty or greasy foods if you want to keep your skin looking beautiful.

Nightly Routine

I cannot stress enough how important it is that you stick to a sincere routine in terms of cleansing, toning and moisturising with products such as neck cream. I believe that the best time to do this is on an evening just before bed, and here is why. Firstly, daily life takes a real toll on your skin as it faces weather conditions, pollution and all other manner of damaging elements. Secondly, ensuring that you do your skin routine at night, means that throughout the night your skin can rest, and the products which you put on your face can do their work. Having a daily routine that takes place in the morning is not necessarily a bad idea, but I have always felt that the products won’t be able to do their job as well as if you put them on at night.

How to Pick The Right Beauty Clinic For You

November 28, 2017 by Miriam Dunning Leave a Comment

Us women rely on our beauty clinic to get hair cut and removed, we use them for facials, massages, anti aging treatments and all manner of things to help us to be at our beautiful best. I am fortunate that I have a fantastic clinic very close to my house, check out the Sono Bello reviews to see just how good my local clinic is. Not everyone is as fortunate as I was when it comes to finding a clinic and with so much choice, it can be tough to decide which is the one for you. To help you find the best beauty clinic, here is what you should be looking for.

Price

Prices from clinic to clinic will vary wildly and it is important that you opt for a clinic which offers prices that you are happy with. Be mindful that a low price can indicate poor quality or poor products being used so the key is to look for somewhere with mid-range pricing.

Service

In order to test the service of a clinic you will have to both experience your local clinics, and read through testimonials and reviews. Even the best looking clinic can offer poor service and given that it is the service which makes going to a clinic worthwhile, you must lay heavy focus on this aspect.

Quality of Treatments

Naturally you want to know that the quality of the treatments which you receive will be high and in order to find out how the treatments are, make sure that you do plenty of research online and find out what people have been saying about the particular clinic.

Range of Treatments

I have always been wary of those ‘Jack of all trade’ type clinics who somehow offer every treatment known to man. Instead I prefer to go with a clinic that specializes in a handful of treatments, and does them well. It is nice to have such a range of treatments all under one roof, but being able to specialize in a huge range would require many members of staff, something that you usually don’t find.

Location of Clinic

If you have a day off and you want to go to your local clinic for a treatment, the last thing that you want to do is have to travel far so make sure that you select a clinic which is in your locality. Decide how far you are prepared to travel and then take a look in your maps to decide which clinic is best for you.

Opening Hours

If you work Monday to Friday, 9-5, having a clinic which opens 9-6 Monday to Friday is not going to help you out. Try to find a clinic which has opening hours that fit in well with your day to day life.

General Atmosphere

The final key to finding a great clinic is to go there and see how it feels. The atmosphere should be relaxing and comfortable and you should feel calm when you are there. The only way to find out, is to try it out.
