Visiting USA? Consider These 7 Ways to Stay Healthy

March 6, 2020 by Miriam Dunning Leave a Comment

The USA is an excellent holiday destination; you can experience the sun and sea in Hawaii, or you can explore snowy plains in Alaska. The giant country is diverse and beautiful, so there is definitely something for everyone there – but if you are thinking about visiting the USA, there are a few things you should do before and during your trip to stay healthy.

Here are seven tips to help you stay healthy during your trip to the USA.

Get Travel Insurance Beforehand

Before you travel, you should set up health insurance that will cover international treatment. This means that you can enjoy your trip without worrying about getting sick – and if you do get sick, you will get the treatment you need so that you will be healthy again in no time.

Make Sure Your Vaccinations Are Up To Date

You should also visit your doctor for a general check-up before you go. Make sure that your vaccinations are up to date, and ask your doctor if there are any specific vaccinations that you should get before going to the USA.  You can also contact the Norwegian Institute of Public Health for vaccination advice.

Pack Medication

You should also pack any daily medication you will need (such as insulin or allergy tablets), and you may also want to pack specific medication for the area you are visiting. Some states in America have mosquitos and other insects that can bite you, so you may want to pack insect repellent, and you may also want to pack anti-diarrheal medication and painkillers.

Avoid Drinking Too Much

You should avoid drinking too much alcohol. This is because excessive drinking will make you feel dehydrated and sick, and this can cause serious problems if you are in a very hot area. Sure, you may want to have one or two in the evening; after all, you are on holiday! However, you should try to keep drinking to a minimum if you really want to stay healthy during your trip. And if you do end up drinking too much, it could be worth booking an IV hydration drip from resetiv.com to replace electrolytes and reduce inflammation.

Protect Your Skin

You should also pack SPF to protect your skin from the sun. This may seem like it is only a problem if you are going somewhere really warm (such as Hawaii), but it is also possible to get sunburnt in cold states such as Alaska. So pack an SPF that suits your skin, and wear a hat during the day if you are in a state that is very hot.

Eat Well

You should also try to eat well during your trip. Lots of people mainly east cheap carbs, so they don’t spend too much on food, but it is important to eat nutrients and protein too. This makes it much easier for you to stay healthy during your trip, and it means you will have more energy to explore and have fun.

Stay Clean

It is important to stay clean during your trip. Wash your hands regularly, clean under your nails and pack hand sanitizer and anti-bacterial wipes.

This particular option helps you garner an in-depth knowledge of the church. You can climb the stairs of the Old North Steeple to the bell ringing chamber. Learn about the rich history of the steeple, which was toppled twice by the hurricane. You can walk between the 37 tombs which have been built under the Old North between 1732 and 1860. Learn about the crypts and its history etc. So, altogether the entire tour comes across as an enriching process and it indeed is.

Emmanuel Episcopal Church:

This can be called the hidden gem of Boston. It stands on a pre-revolutionary war fort called the Cumberland. It provides tunnel tours on every Saturday and Sunday without any prior reservation. So, do not miss out on these tours. The 15-mins long tour will take you down lanes rich in history. The church offers free tours every Sunday. So you along with your group can come for this tour on a Sunday and make the most of it. These tours are conducted by expert volunteers. There’s a tour calendar as well. So,  try to keep yourself updated with the calendar such that you don’t miss out on any important dates. The free tours start off at the Eagle Lectern and they end with the last prayer service in the morning.  On the other days, you can book tickets for the tour. The church charges $10 per person.

Park Street Church:

Park Street Church was built in the year 1809. This church is known for its theological history. Also, it is known for its contribution to society on a larger spectrum.  It has fought against slavery and supported women suffrage and has also promoted various reforms. This church should be on the top of your group tour list in Boston. You can visit the church’s website, to plan a group tour. There are various events all around the year, which will help you plan your tours accordingly. You must refer to its calendar for a better insight. There’s no one singular kind of a group tour as such, but then there are various events which are no less than group tours.
