Health Tips For The Summer

May 23, 2018 by Miriam Dunning Leave a Comment

The summer holiday is fast approaching and as the excitement builds, you need to start preparing yourself for the sweltering heat that comes with summer. While the hot sun is great for swimming at the beach and other outdoor activities, it can take a toll on your body and you need to brace yourself to have an enjoyable summer experience.

The hot conditions has adverse effects on your body including increased perspiration which makes you more dehydrated in addition to having damaging effects on your skin.

Here are the health tips you need for the summer.

Sun protection

While you should always apply sunscreen when going outside the house regardless of the season, it becomes more important during the summer.

Slather yourself with an SPF 30 sunscreen venturing outside to avoid suffering severe sun burns that are usually common in the summer.  The sun’s harmful UV rays can also cause skin cancer.

Also, find a suitable hat from Americanhatmakers.Com to protect your head from direct sunlight and a pair of sunglasses to minimize the effect of the bright sun on your eyes.

Hydrate

Drink plenty of water in the summer to help you cope with the summer heat. You will find yourself feeling thirsty more often and sweating more during the hot months and you need to replace the lost water by drinking one or two extra glasses of water than you normally do.

Keeping yourself well hydrated is also essential in keeping a glowing and supple skin. Your skin gets dry and starts cracking when you are dehydrated.

Shower regularly

The increased sweating provides a fertile ground for the growth of bacteria which results into skin breakouts. Leaving sweat to stay longer on your skin can also lead to fungal growth that manifests itself as skin rashes.

It therefore important to shower regularly and change into fresh clothes made of breathable fabric to keep your skin healthy and smooth. Regular showers also eliminate body odors.

Invest in light clothes

You need to invest in light clothes otherwise you will have an uncomfortable summer. The prices of light clothes tend to skyrocket when summer arrives and buying them now will save you a fortune.

The clothes should be made of soft natural fabric so they don’t cling to the body. Materials made of synthetic materials like polyester cling to the body when you sweat and may start giving of an unpleasant smell.

Moisturize

Moisturizing is especially more important in the summer since your skin gets depleted of moisture by the heat.

Go for a light fast-absorbing moisturizer and apply it immediately after a shower to lock in the moisture before your skin dries up.

Maintain your health plan

The summer is not an excuse to throw caution to the wind and quit exercising while indulging in unhealthy foods.

You can reschedule your gym sessions to the morning to accommodate the parties you get invited to in the evening. Better yet, you can engage in activities like swimming and hiking that are a physical activity on their own.

3 Tips for making your Pregnancy more Comfortable

May 22, 2018 by Miriam Dunning Leave a Comment

Ask any mother who’s had multiple births, and they’ll all tell you the same thing: pregnancy gets easier each time around. However, for new expecting mothers, pregnancy can be a challenge. And it’s perfectly normal, bringing life into this world is hard work. However, there are many ways that you can make your pregnancy much more enjoyable. Here are a few tips that you can apply to make the whole experience easier.

Learn How to Listen to Your Body

Knowing what your body needs is important when you’re pregnant. Certain nutrients are not just essential to your own well being, but your baby’s as well. Fortunately, our body has a way of telling us when something is missing and it’s possible to know when you’re deficient if you’re attentive.

Nutritional deficiencies can have a much bigger impact on your pregnancy than you can imagine and are responsible for a large portion of difficulties you may experience. Something as simple as being dehydrated or missing important nutrients and minerals like healthy fats, iron or calcium could throw your whole system out of whack. Making sure you have the right nutrients will help prevent things like fatigue, headaches, morning sickness, leg cramps and even external issues like varicose veins for instance.

If you want your pregnancy to be as smooth as possible, you could add supplements like calcium capsules, cod liver oil, magnesium lotion or spray and iron when needed. Dried greens and seaweeds can also help.

Consider Buying a Belly Band

Pregnancy belly bands can be a literal lifesaver during the final months of your pregnancy. They were made specifically to provide additional abdominal and lower back support during pregnancy. They can prevent things like Sacroiliac joint pain and round ligament pain and can reduce discomfort when performing physical activities.

Maternity belly support belts can improve your posture and prevent your lower back from overextending. They can also be worn after your pregnancy to help you deal with decreased core strength.

Be Active

While it may not always be easy, it’s always better to be active when you’re pregnant. Something as simple as going for a brisk two mile walk in the morning could help you reduce the risk for hemorrhage during birth. It will also make birth much easier and will allow you to recover faster.

The kind of exercise you partake in is up to you. Ideally, you should avoid any contact sport or any type of exercise that puts too much pressure on your belly. However, if you were able to perform any activity before you were pregnant, listen to your body and continue with your regular routine until your body tells you to stop. Swimming in particular is one of the best forms of exercises you can do while pregnant and one of the safest as well.

Conclusion

If you follow these few simple tips, you should be able to have a much more pleasant pregnancy. Just remember to give your body the nutrients it needs and stay active to facilitate recovery and labor.

TACKLING CHILDHOOD OBESITY

May 11, 2018 by Miriam Dunning Leave a Comment

The fact that over a third of American children are obese should concern any parent. While some of these children have unhealthy weight through no fault of their, either through the hand dealt to them by genetics or congenital medical conditions, for many it boils down to the diet.

It should concern parents since they have an important role in deciding what their children eats and inculcating in them healthy eating habits.

While the health risks associated with obesity are not as severe in children as they are in adults, obesity still poses health problems for children in both the short term and the long term.

Health risks of childhood obesity

Obese children may have breathing problems which hinders their ability to participate in physical activities expected of their age and this can later develop into asthma. This can also manifest itself as sleep apnea which heightens ones risk of suffering a stroke or a heart attack as they grow older.

In the short term, excess weight can cause a child to have self-esteem issues and joint problems since their skeletal structure isn’t as developed to handle their body weight.

Furthermore, obese children are at risk of developing diabetes and heart disease in addition to growing up to be obese or overweight adults. Some of the well-known effects of obesity in adolescence and adulthood include reproductive problems where there is early or delayed puberty and sexual health issues.

Overcoming childhood obesity

The good news is with time on their side, parents and caregivers can help their children manage and overcome their weight problems and grow into healthy and fit adults. The last thing an overweight child needs is to be mocked and teased about their weight – it could ruin their self-esteem for life. Instead be empathetic, understanding and supportive. Here’s what you need to do;

Encourage eating healthy habits

Kids learn from the examples of their parents, not their words. Your child is unlikely to eat healthy if the parent is a junk food aficionado. This starts with the kinds of food you have and prepare in your house. It’s hard for your child to eat healthy if your refrigerator is filled with unhealthy processed and junk foods.

Clean your house of unhealthy foods and replace them with healthy organic alternatives. With less temptations your child is likely to start eating healthy. Make it a family goal to eat and live healthy. Visit Easy-Diabetic-Recipes.Com for healthy recipes.

The second aspect of healthy eating lies in the quantity. Actually, this is the easiest way to maintain a healthy weight but also the hardest to master. To help them control their quantities, encourage your child to drink plenty of water during the day and snack on fruits which make them feel full faster and stay that way for longer.

Physical activity

Ensure your child participates in physical activities to help them lose weight and stay fit. This can be fun activities like gym sessions at school, swimming or biking. Household chores and gardening are also great ways to keep your child active. You can even be exercising together as a family.

You can easily achieve this by minimizing the passive activities your child engages in like watching TV or spending countless hours on their phones.

Sono Bello Reviews Hair Removal Creams

April 21, 2018 by Miriam Dunning Leave a Comment

Hair removal is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures available. It can generally be done in an inexpensive, quick manner and success rates are reasonably high for all the different types of hair removal. They include shaving, waxing, threading, and laser hair removal. One other option that is available is hair removal cream. Here Sono Bello reviews the ins and outs of using this type of cream. They want to make sure that men and women dont just take the first product they come across, but that they can make an informed decision, particularly in Scottsdale, AZ, where they operate.

Sono Bello Reviews Hair Removal Creams

There are numerous pros and cons to hair removal cream. One of the main pros is that it is highly affordable, produces very rapid results, and should be completely painless. However, anyone who has sensitive skin should avoid hair removal creams. It should also never be used on the face from out where the skin is always thinner and more sensitive.

That being said, every move or cream is very efficient and usually works. The problem is that many people will have a skin reaction to it, which includes burning and itchiness. In some extreme cases, the skin will even develop hives. The chemicals used in hair removal creams are the same chemicals used to dissolve hair. This gives an indication of just how strong it is and why it is likely that people with even the smallest bit of sensitivity will develop a reaction to it.

One of the key reasons why hair removal creams are not recommended by professionals, is because of the fact that anything that is placed on the skin is also absorbed through the skin and thereby enters the body. The chemicals used in hair removal cream or very strong and can be highly toxic if ingested, so they should really have no place in contact with the skin either.

Should someone decide that hair removal cream truly is the best option for them, they must ensure that they properly read the ingredients in the cream. It is even better to visit a professional clinic and ask them to do the work instead, thereby at least guaranteeing the quality of the ingredients and the safety of the cream itself.

For Sono Bello, it is vital that people know what they are getting into when they want to make changes to their natural appearance. All procedures have their pros and cons on the amp and it is vital that people inform themselves about these. One way to do that is by reading reviews and comments, finding out what others have said. It is also helpful, therefore, if people leave their own review after having a procedure completed, thereby ensuring others after them can get the information they need.

As a rule of thumb, there are much better options out there for hair removal than creams. Solutions such as shaving, waxing, threading, and even laser hair removal, are much gentler on the skin, can be used anywhere including on the face, and have far less risks associated with them.

6 WAYS IN WHICH A PACIFIER CAN BE DANGEROUS TO YOUR BABY

April 18, 2018 by Miriam Dunning Leave a Comment

Pacifiers can sometimes be helpful in calming down a restless baby. The sucking provides comfort and soothes them. Pacifiers are not only handy in stopping babies from being fussy, but also provide temporary distraction or help them fall asleep faster. Having a pacifier can save you, and your baby, from a lot of pain. However, they can also harm your baby, for example, causing misalignment of teeth and increasing their risk of suffering from infections to the middle ear.

Here are six ways in which pacifiers can harm your baby;

Latex allergies

Latex pacifiers are preferred to silicone ones as they are softer and more flexible. However, most babies are said to suffer from latex allergy arising mostly from vaccinations. The allergy could lead to rashes, or even worse, asthma and shock.  The softness of the latex pacifier also makes it easily chewable and can cause serious health issues when ingested.

Silicone allergies

Silicone pacifiers are recommended because they are stronger, more durable and silicone allergies are not as common as latex allergies. Some babies are however allergic to silicone and any exposure, however minimal, can trigger a reaction. Silicone allergies are characterised by watery eyes, rashes, labored breath and in the worst cases, shock.

Sweetening the pacifier

Oral bacteria thrive in sugary environments and therefore can cause harm to the baby’s gums and teeth which are still developing. The bacteria release acids that cause decay and childhood cavities. Honey is also known to contain a chemical that can lead to food poisoning and should never be given to children under the age of two.

Contamination

Pacifiers, being constantly in contact with saliva and oral bacteria, can be an avenue for the growth, contamination and transmission of bacterial organisms. Given that most parents just wash and dry the pacifiers instead of disinfecting them, pacifiers can cause dental caries, intestinal parasitic infections, candidiasis and infection to the middle ear. Use of tap water to clean the pacifier has also been linked to bacteria that cause dental caries. While cleaning a pacifier in your mouth can help pass good bacteria to your baby, there are also risks of transmitting harmful bacteria to them.

Addiction

Frequent use of the pacifier can turn into a habit such that the baby cannot do it anything, including fall asleep, without it. This can interrupt the baby’s sleep, and yours, when it falls off in the course of the night. Addiction to the pacifier could also delay the baby’s speech development. As the baby gets older, consider restricting the use of a pacifier to bedtime only until you get them completely off it. Momcrib.Com recommends finding other ways of calming the baby down.

Gassing up the baby

It is inevitable that the baby will swallow air when feeding and have the need to pass gas. However, frequent and vigorous sucking on the pacifier could also cause gas problems. If the gas builds up, it may cause stomach acid reflux or abdominal pains which make the baby uncomfortable. When they cry due to the discomfort, giving them a pacifier further worsens their discomfort.

Confronting the Unknown and Resolving to Be Sober Once Again

April 10, 2018 by Miriam Dunning Leave a Comment

Many addicts would love to be sober again but put off getting help because they are afraid of going through withdrawals. It is true that withdrawals are unpleasant and even difficult to endure. They can impact every inch of your body and make even simple tasks like getting dressed or eating a meal challenging.

However, withdrawals are not permanent and in fact only a brief component in the bid to get sober again. You may think your symptoms may last forever. In reality, they only last a matter of days and certainly no longer than a few weeks.

You do not have to go through withdrawals alone. With proper medical and psychological treatment, you can face the unknown head on and overcome what in your mind is the most difficult aspect in recovering. You can enlist the help of trained professionals today by checking yourself into a treatment hospital, meth detox center, or specialized rehabilitation facility today.

Preparing to Go through Withdrawals

Once you are admitted to the facility of your choosing, you will stop using meth right away. You will no longer have access to the substance, and your body will start going through the withdrawal process.

However, the actual question of How to detox from meth and get sober once again may swirl in your mind in the first few moments and hours after you are admitted for treatment. What will happen to your body? Can you withstand the symptoms that are sure to come as your body recognizes that it no longer has the substance in its bloodstream? Will you be able to tolerate everything that is to come in the next few hours and days?

The answers to these questions and many others are going to be provided by the medical team assigned to your care. You will not go through detox alone. In fact, you will have trained doctors, counselors, nurses, and spiritual advisers by your side every step of the way. They will be with you during the moments when you may be scared, confused, and possibly even thinking that you cannot tolerate the process.

They will also assure you that you have it in you to endure the detox process and that you will come out on the other side of it perfectly intact in every way. You will feel better, notice drastic improvements in your health, and take pride in the fact that you overcome some of the darkest moments in your life. Once you get past the withdrawals, you can then continue with your journey toward total sobriety.

Finding Out More Online

It is natural for you to want to feel like you have some control over the process. You can arm yourself with information about the facility and the detox process by going online to the organization’s website.

You can read about the detox process, what most patients experience, and what might lie in store for you. You can also learn if the facility will provide you with comfort measures to ease your physical distress during the withdrawal period. This information could put your mind at ease and make you more ready to overcome your addiction to meth.

You can also read about patient amenities that are available to people during their stays. It is normal for patients in your situation to want to be distracted. You do not want to obsess about what you are going through or what might lie ahead in the coming days while you are in the program.

The facility provides you with amenities designed to strengthen your mind, body, and spirit. You will be given wholesome meals that will replenish your body. Your body may lack important nutrients needed for good mental and physical health. You will have these nutrients provided to you in the meals created by the facility.

You also will have the chance to go outside and be in the sunshine. The facility is located in a sunny and dry climate where you can spend time outdoors. This component of your recovery is important because your body may need fresh air to heal your lungs. You will not have to stay cooped up indoors.

The withdrawal process might intimidate you more than any other aspect of getting sober. You can face the fears head on and get ready to go through a process that will ultimately benefit you in the long run by reading more about it online. You can check yourself into the facility when you are ready to get sober again.

Everything You Should Know About Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia

March 31, 2018 by Miriam Dunning Leave a Comment

Source

An auto-immune disease is one where the immune system is tricked into attacking itself through misunderstood or garbled nervous messages. Normally, the immune system produces natural antibodies which attack diseases and other foreign bodies within your system. When an auto-immune disease is present, however, this does not happen. Hemolytic anemia is a disease where the immune system specifically targets red blood cells.

Background

As seen in XpertDox, Autoimmune hemolyticanemia is a condition where the immune system attacks itself and the red blood cells produced by the body, causing them to burst open, with all the attendant damage. The main effect of this disease is the reduction of red blood cells to carry oxygen around the body.

Symptoms

The main symptom of hemolytic anemia, or the one that people tend to notice first, is the shortness of breath which comes from not having enough oxygen moving around your body, although this is more pronounced in idiopathic versions of the disease. Other symptoms include increasing weakness, shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat, pale\sallow skin, muscle pain, nausea and vomiting, dark urine, headaches, stomach pains, bloating, and diarrhoea.

Diagnosis

Diagnosing hemolytic anemia comes after all the other possible diagnoses for this type of anemia have been ruled out, such as sickle cell anemia, with reference to any underlying issues which may have led to the disease forming.

When a diagnosis has been made, the physicians involved then move to laboratory work to look at the progress of the disease, and get ideas in how to treat it. One positive test, while enough to tell healthcare workers that the disease is present, is not enough to truly determine how that positive test was made – further lab work is needed for this to be figured out. Tests for hemolytic anemia include blood counts, peripheral smears, bilirubin, lactate dehydrogenase, haptoglobin, and urine hemoglobin.

Treatment

Steroids

The first treatment for hemolytic anemia is normally steroids, of various kinds. Steroids are used because they can be very useful in creating and boosting red blood cells counts. Since steroids are very dangerous for people’s overall health, using them requires careful oversight to ensure that they are working, and that they are not having any detrimental effects. The course of steroids will be stopped or decreased when the condition goes into remission.

Immune-suppressing drugs

Drugs such as azathioprine and cyclophosphamide act to suppress the immune system, which in the case of hemolytic anemia would work to stop the destruction of red blood cells. If either of the two first choices would not work, some doctors turn to rituximab as a drug which will attack specific proteins which are present in the immune system, thus weakening the disease. Immune suppressing drugs are particularly useful when steroids don’t work, but the patient cannot have surgery.

Surgery

In some cases, the doctors of the case may recommend surgery as the means of remedying the disease. Removal of the spleen is something that can reverse things, and stop red blood cells from being destroyed. This course of action is normally only recommended if other forms of treatment have failed.

Ways To Stay Healthy When You’re A Mom On The Go

February 19, 2018 by Miriam Dunning Leave a Comment

It’s not always easy to stay healthy when you’re a busy mother. That’s why you need measures in place that allow you to take care of your wellbeing and attend to your daily responsibilities, without causing you to experience stress. It’s always better to know your limits than it is to exhaust yourself trying to do it all.

Realize that you’ll function better when you feel your best. There are ways to get your tasks done and not become overwhelmed by what’s on your plate. It’s all about preparing and planning, so your health doesn’t suffer as you go throughout your busy days.

Have A List of Resources Handy

You don’t have to do it all on your own. Use resources like echiropractor.org to gather information about how to attend to your aches and pains. Hopping online and doing a little research yourself to find solutions to your health concerns is easy and beneficial to you. It’s also a smart idea to secure a good doctor and dentist for you and your family. Focus on your health first, and the rest will fall into place.

Pack Nutritious Snacks

Being on the go means you’re won’t always have access to healthy foods. That’s why you have to carry nutritious snacks with you while you’re out and about. It’s not only necessary for you, but for your kids too. This way you won’t be tempted to eat poorly and grab unhealthy choices when you’re away from home. All it takes is a conscious effort to think in advance and pack your purse full of healthy options for when you suddenly become hungry.

Ask for Help when you need it

Being a busy mom requires you to ask for help once in a while. It doesn’t make you weak; it makes you smart. Reach out to your spouse or friends for support and guidance. See if they’ll cover for you while you attend to your health or join a carpool to take some of the burdens off your shoulders. All it takes is you speaking up and being proactive so that your health doesn’t suffer as you attend to your responsibilities.

Put A Routine in Place

While it’s a good idea to switch up your routine once in a while, routines are also helpful for keeping consistency in your life. For example, set a time you’re going to exercise each day and make it easy on yourself to get in a workout. Come up with a fitness plan and hold yourself accountable for following through. The same goes for when you’re going to grocery shop and make meals for the week. Find a routine that’s simple to maintain and allows you to keep you and your family happy and healthy.

Conclusion

It’s time to stop making excuses that you’re too busy to care about your wellbeing and start taking actions that deliver results. It’s important to find techniques that you find easy to upkeep. Stick with it, and you’ll soon feel much better, both mentally and physically.
